“ I love the ice cream here it really tastes homemade and I love the flavors and topping combinations. You can do definitely would highly recommend this ice cream shop and I am a little bit of a fanatic for ice cream so take my word for it lol ”
“ I stopped by Handel's with my kids to treat them. They offer so many flavors, it's very hard to pick one! My kids loved the ice cream (pineapple sherbet and birthday cake)! The service was great as well, very quick! ”
“ The grandkids begged me to take them to Handel's. They were right--it was great. It's a walk up window with benches outside. My granddaughter has a dairy allergy, but they have several vegan/non-dairy alternatives. We all got medium size cups and it was fantastic. ”
“ Forty-some years ago, on the South Side of Youngstown, OH, I had my first taste of Handel's Homemade Ice Cream. I have had it countless times since then...I can brag that as a kid I literally ran through the menu, trying every single flavor once, and I even loved the pistachio ice cream (again, way back when; idk if that's still a thing). I moved away to many places, none of which ever had Handel's, but they were my first stop when going home to Youngstown -- Chocolate Pecan calls to me, encouraging me to consume it before I do anything else, like drop off my suitcase or eat dinner, haha! I knew they had begun franchising in the late 90s, and I was delighted to find that this location is not too far from my summer home. (Two hours in Handel's Time is nothing to me!) The Chocolate Pecan is the classic. There are other flavors, but there is no improvement upon perfection. It's sweet and chocolatey but not so chocolatey that it overpowers the crunchy, salty pecan chunks. Yes, there are other good flavors - Graham Central Station, Chocolate Peanut Butter Ripple, Cake Batter, and Peppermint Stick are all favorites. I ate more of their Rocky Road one summer when I was 9 than any human probably should. And the vanilla is great too! But Chocolate Pecan is where it's at. Take it from the 40-something-ish fat lady over here...it's worth even a long trip to check this place out. ”
“ Handel's has been around for ages. It's a walk up window and looks like an old-time ice cream parlor. Has pretty good ice cream. The service is good but during peak summer hours, you can find yourself waiting ages in line. ”
“ Highlight of our mini road trip vacation was the ice cream! We even brought some pints home. Delicious and dog friendly too! ”
“ I'm a big fan of Handel's and while in the area we wanted dessert. I had a chocolate waffle cone! The small cones are easily medium sized compared to other places. The service and line moves quickly. The price is pretty good for handmade ice cream ”
“ I don't even really like ice cream, but the banana cream pie ice cream might make me reconsider my opinion. It's banana ice cream made with fresh bananas, marshmallow swirl and sugar cookie crumbs. Amazing. Handel's has no less than 50 flavors available, with some that are seasonal or available for special occasions, so the menu is always changing. If you're undecided, you can order a 4-scoop sampler, which is small scoops of flavors of your choosing. They also have shakes, sundaes, banana splits, and something called hurricanes. This Handel's location has picnic tables on the side of the building, so you can eat your ice cream outside the shop, if you wish. There is no indoor seating, because this is a walk-up ice cream shop. It's open all year, so during the colder months, you will probably just want to get your ice cream to go and enjoy back at home or someplace warmer. I've never visited Handel's when there wasn't a line. So be prepared to wait a bit. But the people who work here are very efficient and fast, so you won't be waiting long for your ice cream treats. ”
“ I recommend this ice cream place for the perfect summer day! It is conveniently located in Fishers with a small parking lot and street parking. There are a few tables as well as a curb to sit on. There is no indoor seating so you will be outside when you order, wait in line and if you choose to eat there. There can be quite the line so be prepared for a small wait but they do try to get orders out asap. ”
“ We are no strangers to Handels and frequent almost twice a month on our own or with guests. However, we tried the Fishers location for the first time. Handels is synonymous for their long lines in summer, but it was a breeze yesterday with colder weather. We all ordered small scoops and the portions that were served for $3.50 were huge. The attendant was polite, friendly and so quick. We loved the cherry, chocolate, cookie dough flavor and had so much fun licking off ice cream in the cold hours at night. Highly recommend the delicious taste and quick service in winters! ”
